Treating Skin Cancer Non-Invasively
The Cutting Edge Without the Cutting™
“My passion is detecting and treating skin cancer without cutting,” says Dr. Markowitz, who has been treating nonmelanoma skin cancer noninvasively for more than a decade, garnering clearance rates comparable to surgery.
Expert Care from a Skin Cancer Pioneer
Dr. Markowitz’s research on noninvasive skin cancer protocol has been published in multiple peer-reviewed medical journals, and she is considered an authority on the use of laser devices, topicals or oral prescription medications to treat non-melanoma tumors. Dr. Markowitz is currently the leader in U.S. research on the use of optical coherence tomography to manage skin cancer.
A Personalized Approach
Typical noninvasive treatment will include a customized combination of non-ablative lasers. To tailor a plan for each patient, Dr. Markowitz uses the information she gains using confocal microscopy to diagnose the type of cancer, plus optical coherence tomography to identify the size and depth of the tumor.
When creating a skin cancer regimen, Dr. Markowitz will often also take into consideration any of the patient’s other underlying complexion concerns, such as sun damage, rosacea, acne or scars. To the delight of many of her patients, Dr. Markowitz is often able to use the same non-ablative lasers or topicals she is using to treat their skin cancer to simultaneously address and diminish other skin concerns.
Effective, Scar-Free Results
Data from Dr. Markowitz’s clinical research shows that the majority of non-melanoma lesions treated non-invasively take just one to two treatments to completely resolve. Dr. Markowitz’s innovative approach comprehensively treats a patient’s skin cancer while avoiding disfiguring surgeries.
